Anna's cold symptoms worsened and her emotional issues continued to mount. It was time
for her to abandon the journey. We both ached over the decision. It was the
right thing to do but neither of us liked the idea. I put her on an airplane
in Helena at noon and headed south to Yellowstone by myself. She had to fly a
small regional plane to Salt Lake to catch a regular flight home to Fort
Worth. Ouch! Last minute flights are pricey.
It rained just enough for me to put on my rain gear. Ten minutes later it was over. I stopped in West Yellowstone to remove my gear and met a fellow on a Goldwing pulling a trailer. He had just come out of Yellowstone and was heading north to Glacier then homeward. He was from Winnipeg. He offered up to me his permit to Yellowstone. I traded him my pass to Glacier so we saved each other a few bucks. I bought more throat lozenges to ease my own worsening condition. |
