Leaving Astoria, OR we crossed the
Columbia river. As we reached the Washington side the road signs warned of
danger for motorcycles along our chosen route. I turned around to take an
alternate route to avoid the yet unseen danger. We traveled along the
Columbia River for a short distance before turning into a forested area.
Anna told me she thought she had seen an eagle along the river. I wanted
to see one too, if I could, so I turned around again. Sure enough, we saw
three bald eagles in flight. They were a bit far away for my camera but if
you look carefully you can see two of them in the picture above. They did
fly much closer to us but my fumbling camera skills with my riding gloves netted
nothing but blurry sky.
I turned around again and continued on our alternate route only to discover the same warning signs on this road also. With no other choice I pressed on never seeing anything that looked particularly dangerous for motorcycles. I was pleased to have been detoured though since I was able to see the eagles. |
